Your Adoption Connection: I am new to adoption and was looking for answers
Hello, I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I have been looking around the forum but have not been able to find the answers to two quesitons that I had. I was hoping someone could help me.

1. What questions were asked to your references? The agency I am choosing requires 4 references that they will call. One reference will need to come to the offices in person. I just wanted to know what they may ask? I read that your best friend may not always be the best person to choose. I wasnt sure why this we recommended so any help with that would be appreciated.

2. I know a medical exam is required. Is this a specific exam? Meaning are they looking for something specific like a GYN exam or is this just a regular physical such as you would get yearly at your general doctor?

Thanks so much!

To help answer your first question:

The type of questions they'll ask are:

What type of temperment does this couple have?
If they have children, how have they disciplined them?
How do they handle stress in their lives?
Do they seem to get along with each other? Do they often talk things out, or, do they act independently?
Do you (meaning the person being questioned) have any reservations that they might not be good parents?
How long have you known them? In what capacity have you known them?
How often do you talk with them?, etc.........

Physicals:

We had to have everything each time we adopted. I think I even had to have a GYN exam as well. For our first adoption, we had to prove why we chose to adopt rather than have bio children.

HTH...

Sincerely,

Linny

I just had all my references called last week, so I can say, yep, what Linny listed! They also were asked about how involved we were in our kids' schooling, if they thought we were good drivers and our health.

As far as the doctor visit, it was a physical and a TB test.
