Your Adoption Connection: Just beginning the process
It looks like no one has been around here since September? I hope someone is still out there. :grin :grin

I was last on here back in June/July 2012...a looooonnnggggg time ago. I wasn't on for very long, but now I'm back.

We just signed up to take the Orientation and Training classes required by our state so we can hopefully begin the foster to adopt process.

I remembered being on this forum way back when and found that the people on here were much more accepting of our decision to want a closed adoption. Other places I've been lurking on are very much open adoption and I'm almost afraid to post questions on there for fear of being eaten alive! LOL!!

Anyways, I hope this place is still active because I would like to have a good place to come to for asking questions as I need to.

Hello? I hope it's not just a long sorrowful echo I hear.

:grin :grin :hi :wave :carrot :brocolli :banana :lol :jump

Hey, some of us are still around....though, (sadly) some have gone to Facebook only......but there's no "Forever Parents' facebook page either. (And some of us don't trust the privacy on FB anyway....)

ANYWAY....congrats on starting your journey...and congrats for sticking to what you really want.....a closed adoption. Don't let anyone talk you into something you're not comfortable about. And truly, in many corners, a fully open adoption isn't getting the 'good results' some have sworn it would. Sadly, I see adoption going in the direction of many of us becoming merely caretakers for 18yrs UNTIL those lovely birthpeople can decide that NOW they want to parent, hmmmmmmmmm.........Just somethin' else......

At any rate, YES, some of us are still around and eager to help you with any questions you might have. Keep us updated and feel free to ask away! :grin

Sincerely,

Linny
