Your Adoption Connection: Waiting to be matched. :)
Hello!
My name is Kristin and my husband and I just started looking into adoption. We have been married for 8.5 years. :) We are looking into newborn domestic adoption, Caucasian. We have tried for years to have our own with no success. We would like to start our family and feel that this is a wonderful option.

Currently we are trying to find an agency that we feel comfortable with, and need to start the process of having a homestudy done.

I am very happy to have come across this forum! I have read some great information. :grin

Hi Kristen,
I could recommend a couple of agencies/attorneys, though it would depend on where you live in the state. What kind of budget are you able to work with? Are you open to any drug/alcohol exposure? Any type of special needs at all?

If you'd feel better pm-ing me, that's fine too........Just let me know.

Sincerely,

Linny

Hi Linny,
We live in Northern Illinois, we are actually in DeKalb, So if you have any recommendations for agenies or attorneys I would really apreciate it. Currently we are going to do a consulation with Family Building Services in Skokie. Talked with them on the phone and really like the way they work. We talked with ANLC out of CA and it is not the right fit for us. We also talked with Angel Adoption and like them, however do not like how they have a time limit on their contract and have a huge sum of money due upfront.

So we are slowly figuring out what type of agency we like. :)

We are open to ocasional alcohol or drug use, but really it would be considered on a case by case basis.

I appreciate any feedback you have!

Thanks

Okay.....first, stay away from Angel Adoptions! They do NOT have a good reputation and are actually a facilitation source...even though this is illegal in IL. Still, they somehow are able to slip through some loops and hoops to remain. (Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr...) I have a real problem with any group that works as a middle-man for adoption...applying their own fees ON TOP OF the original adoption entity that deals directly with the biological folks. Angel is said to be unethical with adopting folks as well as biological folks. Stay away.

I would recommend talking with Sunny Ridge and Lutheran Child and Family..NOT to be mistaken with Lutheran Social Services who have a less than stellar reputation from me.

HTH...

Sincerely,

Linny

I have a great attorney that works out of Kane County.

Linny, thanks for the heads up about Angel Adoptions I will defintetly keep that in mind. I will have to check into Sunny Ridge. When I checked a few months ago they had a waiting list of at least one year before we could join their program so truthfully I didn't check into them any further.

I have another consulation with another agency on the 21st and we know someone personally who adopted both of their children through them and had a very positive experience.

Sam, I would love the name of the lawyer, it will be a while before I will need one but to know of someone that is in Kane County would be great!
