Your Adoption Connection: Getting ready to start domestic adoption
Hi everyone!
I'm here to learn more about adoption. After having number of unsuccessful IVFs we've decided to adopt. We have been thinking about adoption for last few years, but hoped first to have biological child. It didn't work for us. So, we've decided to start.
Our special challenge is that we are non-citizens. This is legal to adopt domestically, but not easy.
At the moment we are researching our options, reading, preparing, saving money.
We are open to interstate adoption, Caucasian newborn.

:sunflower

Thanks!

I'm unfamiliar with adopting when one isn't a US citizen; but otherwise, there are some 'rules' in adoption that surely must be the same.....

Please feel free to ask/write any questions. Our members will be glad to help in any way we can! :nod

Sincerely,

Linny

Hi, Rori,

Big WELCOME from me...I think the only "regular" on this board from Connecticut. (We've had a few others on here from time to time but haven't seen them recently.)

Yes, as a non-citizen living in Connecticut, you can pursue a domestic adoption. I used to work for a Connecticut agency and at that time we had clients who were successful adopting here in the US even though they were British citizens.

Where in CT are you? We have a local support group that meets monthly in Fairfield County. You are more than welcome to attend (meetings are free and open to the public). You can learn more at http://www.adoptiveparents.org.

Linny, thank you!

Debbie, hi!! Thank you for info. So good to meet smb from CT. I'm gonna have a lot of questions))))))
My name is Kate, btw.
We live in Stamford. Thank you for invitation. I think that I will join your group one day.

We came from Russia, we are here on working visa and have applied for Green card. We are planning to start adoption fall 2013. Before that we plan to choose agency, to get all possible info, to prepare ourselves, to read etc.

Debbie, may I ask you a few questions about CT adoption? Is it better to do here, or to create separate topic?

THANK YOU!!! :thewave
