Your Adoption Connection: Hoping to adopt from India
I'm hoping to adopt from India! We are just beginning to research agencies and starting to do some fundraising. I see this will be a LONG journey.

I can't access the international adoption topic board?

Hi, Julie,

Welcome!

Are you aware that adoptions from India are temporarily on hold:
http://adoption.state.gov/country_information/country_specific_alerts_notices.php?alert_notice_type=alerts&alert_notice_file=india_1

Is there a reason you are specifically interested in India? If so, how long are you prepared to wait for the process to reopen?

If you do decide to move forward, be sure to read this (if you haven't already):

http://adoption.state.gov/country_information/country_specific_info.php?country-select=india

Good luck!
-Debbie

Julie,
Thanks for the email. I received it very late tonight (rather, very EARLY this morning! LOL)
You asked about posting in the international forum. Generally, we wait until people have their homestudy---or are at least well into the homestudy interviews before we allow full access to all of the board. This is because we're private and greatly protect that privacy for the members here. That same privacy allows us to vent, talk about specific agencies/attorneys---a freedom you won't find in a public board. Please understand we're not singling you or anyone else out. It's worked well for Forever Parents and another reason we've set up these specific forums for those who've registered for the board, but might only have a few questions, or, who're just starting and still figuring out exactly what they want to do regarding their adoption journey. (ie, what type of adoption they want to pursue or what agencies/attorneys are best to work with).

After we've gotten to know you better and you're on your way (and you may already BE on your way with the homestudy part of adoption), access will be granted to anyone who's continued to post and be a part of other threads as well. Please understand that where you're posting now IS private, but read-able for anyone who's registered and introduced themselves.

HTH....

Sincerely,

Linny
